Sermon Summary:
“When the Stone Becomes a Sign”
Genesis 28:10–19a
July 19, 2026
Jacob is on the run. He has deceived his father, taken the blessing meant for his brother, and left home because staying may cost him his life. When he stops for the night, he has no tent, no table, no family, and no clear future. He takes a stone for a pillow, and that stone becomes the hard evidence of where his grasping has brought him. Jacob wanted a blessing, but he tried to secure it by control, deception, and fear. Now he discovers what we all discover sooner or later: we cannot bless ourselves, protect ourselves, or redeem ourselves.
