Ministry & Worship

A place to explore my approach to ministry, worship, pastoral care, and the practices that shape a faithful and grounded life together.

My Approach to Ministry

After more than thirty years in pastoral ministry, I’ve come to believe that faithful leadership is less about having all the answers and more about helping people become attentive to God’s presence in their own lives.

I try to preach and teach in a way that is honest, grounded in Scripture, historically informed, and attentive to the struggles of real people. I want the church to be a place where questions are welcome, grace is practiced, and hope is allowed to take root even when circumstances are difficult.

My leadership style is collaborative, reflective, and rooted in the belief that the Holy Spirit equips communities—not just clergy—to do the work of ministry.

Holy Week

Journey with PUMC this year as we meditatively reflect on Jesus' journey from his triumphant entry on Palm Sunday, through the shadows of the week, leading to the darkness of Good Friday, only to emerge as victory on Resurrection Sunday.

Worship & Liturgy

Worship is the heart of congregational life. I draw on Scripture, Christian tradition, and the liturgical year to shape services that are thoughtful, centered on Christ, and grounded in prayer.

I value clarity, depth, and beauty in worship—whether in music, preaching, or sacrament—because these help us remember who God is and who we are called to be.

What Guides My Worship Planning

  • Christ-centered liturgy shaped by the seasons of the Church
  • Music that supports the Scripture and theme
  • Clear, accessible language
  • A balance of reverence and warmth
  • Prayer that draws people toward God without pressure or performance

Pastoral Care

Pastoral care is one of the deepest privileges of ministry. Whether in moments of celebration or seasons of grief, I try to offer a presence that is compassionate, steady, and grounded in the hope of Christ.

I believe pastoral care is not about fixing people’s pain but walking with them in it, trusting that God is already present and at work long before I arrive.

Services & Life Events

I provide support and guidance for important life moments, including:

  • Baptisms — preparation and scheduling
  • Weddings — planning, counseling, and ceremony coordination
  • Funerals & Memorials — compassionate pastoral support
  • Special Services — seasonal worship, dedications, blessings
